DREAM OF A RIVER

chris-r-0843-2 Image by Christine Renney

The flame in his chest
Uncertain but unceasing
Burning and beating

A retreat
A winding track
The long way back

Not breaking the surface
The splash of his feet
Sleepwalking along a
water filled street

Eyes wide to see all he has missed
But waking not reaching the bridge

Nice to see you turn your hand to poetry, Mark. This retains your skill in creating a scene with which the imagination can play. I like the idea of the bridge – obstensily a route to new experience – being a final destination. Fine writing.

I love hearing the different rhythms in this Mark… as they move in the story along. Like a cinematographer in a movie. The photo is stunning too. You have some technicolor dreams!

Wonderful poem.. really love this, and the beautiful image too… very striking indeed!! 🙂 I would be very interested in this for The Writing Garden – if that agrees with you Mark?

Thank you Suzy. I would be honoured for my poem to appear in The Writing Garden. I would prefer that the poem and the photograph remain as a pair as the two are intrinsically linked for me. Hope all is well with you. The latest edition is excellent by the way. Regards Mark

Thanks so much Mark! Yes, I was going to ask you about the photography, it’s a really wonderful vibrant artistic image, I’d be very happy to include it with your poem.

The next issue will be around January 16th, so I’ll get back to you here when it’s published. Thanks so much Mark, looking forward to sharing your poetry! 🙂
